Gum Disease

Diet

  1. Decrease refined carbohydrates. Carbohydrates can feed the bacteria and acidify the saliva. The consumption of refined carbohydrates may be the single most important factor in our gum disease epidemic. Cut them as much as possible.
  2. Replace sugar with Xylitol, a sugar alcohol that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in the mouth.
  3. Drink Green tea. Green tea has been linked to healthier gums and teeth.

Lifestyle

  1. Drink water all day long. Carry a bottle of water with you and sip at it regularly throughout the day. Proper hydration helps to maintain a healthy flow of saliva and flush away bacteria.
  2. Chew gum sweetened with xylitol. Chewing gum helps to stimulate saliva which helps to keep the mouth pH in such a range that can prevent the formation of plaque.
  3. Use a Hydrofloss Irrigation System. Hydrofloss is an advanced irrigation system that magnetizes the water that flows through it. By magnetizing the water, the Hydrofloss removes plaque much more effectively than other irrigation systems. Add Phytodent to the Hydro-Floss water to enhance the benefit.
  4. Brush with Life Extension Natural Toothpaste – This toothpaste has some of nature’s most powerful ingredients for killing oral bacteria and promoting healthy gums and teeth.
  5. Rinse With Life Extension Mouthwash twice daily.

Supplements

  1. Ubiquinol (Activated Coenzyme Q10) 100 mg twice daily. Coenzyme Q10 is essential for the proper repair and maintenance of healthy gums. Research has shown that diseased gums are deficient in this essential nutrient. By taking coenzyme Q10, the deficiency can be repaired and the gum tissue made healthier.
  2. Pure Radiance C – 2 Capsules twice daily. Pure Radiance C is a whole food form of vitamin C which is far superior to standard ascorbic acid on the market. Vitamin C plays an important role in maintaining the gums and bone that holds the teeth in place.
  3. OsteoPlus – 2 Tabs twice daily. This mineral formula can help to maintain the health of the teeth and the bone which hold the teeth in the jaw.
  4. Vitamin D – 1,000-2,000 iu daily (more if warranted) Vitamin D helps to assure that you are able to absorb and utilize the minerals in your diet and supplements.
  5. If the gum disease is present, apply tea tree oil to the gums, especially the areas that are most effected.
